Cell Line Description

33B is a N-Ethyl-N-nitrosourea-induced neural tumour cell line derived from the 17th in vivo passage of TR33B. The cell line is positive for rat neural antigen-1 (Ran-1) and also reacts with a marker for normal Schwann cells, the monoclonal antibody 217c.

Application

Neurobiological studies

Culture Medium

DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
