General description

Oil and Grease - WP proficiency testing material is produced in accordance with ISO/IEC 17043:2010. Also referred to as non-Potable water or Water Pollution sample, this product is produced according to TNI requirements. However, please note, this sample may include non-TNI analytes as well. The higher criteria from the TNI tables mimic the levels common to wastewater samples. The PT portfolio allows our test components to offer significant performance data to monitor and prove competency to customers, accreditation bodies or both.

Supelco® is a global proficiency testing (PT) provider that manufactures best-in-class environmental and pharmaceutical PT products. Most water PT samples are available as concentrates or ready-to-use volumes giving the end-user flexibility in selecting samples that will fit their exact needs. Our WP program is designed to meet the quality assurance requirements in compliance with Discharge Monitoring Report - Quality Assurance Program (DMR-QA), thereby ensuring the analytical competence of your laboratory.
These samples are typically provided in duplicate for use in case of lab mishap, for QC purposes or to analyze multiple methods.

Type of PT Scheme: Water analysis - Water Pollution (WP)

Matrix: Water Pollution/Wastewater

Preparation Note

Description

  • This PT sample is a 2 mL concentrate.
  • The solvent for this sample is n-propanol.
  • The sample is suitable for methods EPA 1664, SM 5520B and other gravimetric methods. It is not suitable for IR methods.
  • The PT sample has not been preserved.

Sample Preparation

  • To prepare the solution, add 994 mL of reagent-grade water and 5 mL of 1:1 Hydrochloric Acid to a 2 L separatory funnel.
  • Open ampule PE1083-2ML (be careful to avoid cuts on glass) and transfer 1.0 mL of concentrate to the separatory funnel.
  • Mix well.
  • The sample is now ready for immediate analysis.
