General description

1-Methoxy-5-methylphenazinium methyl sulfate (MPMS) is a stable electron-transport mediator between NAD(P)H and tetrazolium dyes. The reduced form of MPMS converts tetrazolium salt to purple precipitate formazan.

Application

1-Methoxy-5-methylphenazinium methyl sulfate has been used as a component of buffers or solutions for the assay of lactate dehydrogenase and muscle succinate dehydrogenase.

While stable in human plasma, these linkers are unstable in mouse plasma due to susceptibility to an extracellular carboxylesterase. This instability often triggers premature release of drugs in

Reduction of the cell-impermeable tetrazolium salt WST-1 has been used to characterise two plasma membrane NADH oxidoreductase activities in human cells. The trans activity, measured with WST-1 and the intermediate electron acceptor mPMS, utilises reducing equivalents from intracellular sources, while
