New EN ISO 7704:2023 on Membrane Filters

WEBINAR

Join our webinar on EN ISO 7704:2023, a mandatory standard that affects all ISO 17025 accredited laboratories performing microbiological analysis of water samples by membrane filtration. You will be informed about the new requirements of this recently published standard that has replaced EN ISO 7704:1985, and about solutions for your lab to meet the challenge.

EN ISO 7704:2023 specifies the requirements for performance testing of the membrane filters used to capture and directly enumerate microorganisms on solid media. It applies to the analysis of different water samples, including:

  • Drinking water, bottled water, and other water samples with low expected counts of microorganisms
  • Water with higher expected counts of microorganisms, for example, surface water or process water

The tests in the revised standard are designed to demonstrate the suitability of the entire system (membrane filter in combination with the culture medium) including the filtration step.

The webinar will also address different enumeration methods described by the IFU (International Fruit and Vegetable Juice Association) to carry out performance testing of membrane filters according to EN ISO 7704.
