General description
ABTS Tablets are used as substrates in enzyme immunoassays with horseradish peroxidase as a marker enzyme. It is widely used in spectrophotometric methods to measure antioxidant activities of food and beverages.
Application
ABTS Tablets are the ideal substrate for enzyme immunoassays with horseradish peroxidase (HRP) as a marker enzyme.
Features and Benefits
- ABTS is soluble in aqueous and organic solvents
- ABTS method is suitable for various pH levels
- Samples react with ABTS quickly and reach stability within 30 minutes
Packaging
- 11204521001 (5 mg/tablet; each tablet is for 5 mL substrate solution)
- 11112422001(50 mg/tablet; each tablet is for 50 mL substrate solution)
Preparation Note
Working solution: Dissolve one ABTS tablet (5 mg) in 5 ml of the ABTS buffer solution. This solution has a light-green color. In microtiter plates, it is colorless A405 nm/1 cm should be <0.16. Work as clean as possible. Heavy metal ions or traces of peroxidase can produce a dark green ABTS solution. Such solutions are not suitable for the assay.
Analysis Note
Evaluation: photometric (405nm)

A method for the screening of antioxidant activity is reported as a decolorization assay applicable to both lipophilic and hydrophilic antioxidants, including flavonoids, hydroxycinnamates, carotenoids, and plasma antioxidants. The pre-formed radical monocation of 2,2'-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS*+) is generated by oxidation
