General description
This Standard Reference Material (SRM) is intended for use in evaluating analytical methods for the determination of selected polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) congeners, chlorinated pesticides, and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) congeners in house dust and similar matrices. All of the constituents for which certified, reference, and information values are provided in SRM 2585 were naturally present in the dust material before processing. A unit of SRM 2585 consists of one bottle containing approximately 10 g of house dust. For more information, please refer to the COA and SDS.

Application
- Innovative non-targeted screening approach using High-resolution mass spectrometry: This study employs high-resolution mass spectrometry to screen for organic chemicals in house dust, identifying specific tracers of soil and dust exposure in children. This technique enhances the detection of organic pollutants and is crucial for environmental exposure assessments in biotech research (Ogunbiyi et al., 2024).
- Endocrine disrupting potential of total and bioaccessible extracts of dust: Research investigates the endocrine-disrupting potential of dust from various indoor environments, using dust samples to study the bioaccumulation of harmful substances. This contributes significantly to toxicology research and the development of analytical techniques for organic pollutants in dust (Pinto-Vidal et al., 2024).
- Comprehensive Identification and Ubiquitous Occurrence of Rubber-Derived Vulcanization Accelerators in Urban Dusts: This study highlights the presence of vulcanization accelerators in urban dusts, offering new insights into the environmental impact of such substances, and supporting studies on organic contaminants analysis in indoor dust (Ge et al., 2024).
