General description

This stable-labeled internal standard is suitable for quantification of posaconazole levels in blood, serum, or plasma by HPLC or LC-MS/MS. The antifungal posaconazole is used to treat invasive and systemic fungal infections. As a result of significant drug interactions, therapeutic drug monitoring of posaconazole is recommended when administered with protease inhibitors (PIs) or non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs).

Application

  • Quantification of posaconazole in human plasma: A liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry method was developed for the quantification of posaconazole, utilizing Posaconazole-D4 as an internal standard. This method was applied to pharmacokinetic studies following single-dose administration in both fasted and high-fat meal states, highlighting its utility in assessing drug bioavailability and metabolism (Xu et al., 2013).
