General description

16:0 NBD PE is a headgroup labelled fluorescent phospholipid. L-α-Phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) is the most abundant phospholipid in bacteria and the second most abundant in animals, plants and yeast.

Application

16:0 NBD PE is suitable:
  • for use in the bilayer, as fluorescent probe, together with encapsulated doxorubicin (DXR) for the preparation of planar-supported lipid bilayers (PSLB) of 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DPPC)
  • used in fluorescence control experiment
  • for labelling giant plasma membrane vesicles

Biochem/physiol Actions

L-α-Phosphatidylethanolamine maintains membrane integrity.
