Gene Information

human ... HDAC11(79885)
mouse ... Hdac11(232232)

General description

HDAC11 is responsible for the deacetylation of lysine residues on the N-terminal part of the core histones (H2A, H2B, H3 and H4). Histone deacetylation is a marker for epigenetic repression and plays an important role in transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression and developmental events. Histone deacetylases act via the formation of large multiprotein complexes. The predominantly nuclear HDAC11, which interacts with HDAC6, is weakly expressed in most tissues, and strongly expressed in brain, heart, skeletal muscle, kidney and testis. Its activity is inhibited by trapoxin, a known histone deacetylase inhibitor.

Specificity

Not tested in other species.
This antibody recognizes HDAC11.

Immunogen

Epitope: N-terminus
The immunogen was a KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide corresponding the N-terminal region of human HDAC11.

Application

ELISA:
This antibody has been shown by an outside laboratory to be suitable for ELISA (1:1000).

Immunohistochemistry:
This antibody has been shown by an outside laboratory to be suitable for histochemistry using formalin fixed, paraffin embedded human hepatocarcinoma tissue (1:50-1:100).

Storage and Stability

Stable for 6 months at 2-8°C from date of receipt. For long term storage, store at -20ºC. Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.
