General description
Hemoglobin (Hb) is made of four globin chains each carrying a heme group. It is carried by red blood cells and transports oxygen from the lungs to the peripheral tissues to maintain the viability of cells. Quantitation of blood hemoglobin has been a key diagnostic parameter for various diseases such as anemia, polycythemia and dehydration.
Application
The Whole Blood Hemoglobin (Hb) Kit may be used for:
- Hematology Research
- Drug Discovery
Features and Benefits
- Fast and Efficient: Get hemoglobin results in just 5 minutes with a quick assay reaction, using only 5 μL of blood, saving time and resources.
- Safe and Environmentally Friendly: Our assay kit utilizes non-hazardous chemistry, eliminating the need for toxic chemicals like potassium cyanide and hexacyanoferrate(III) used in the traditional Drabkin′s method, ensuring safety and environmental responsibility.
- Compatibility with High-Throughput Systems: Effortlessly integrate our kit into high-throughput handling systems for streamlined operations, ensuring both efficiency and accuracy in your laboratory processes.
Suitability
The kit is suitable for the quantitative determination of hemoglobin (Hb) in whole blood.
Principle
Simple, direct and automation-ready procedures for measuring hemoglobin concentration are becoming popular in research and drug discovery. The Whole Blood Hemoglobin (Hb) Kit is based on an improved Triton/NaOH method, in which the hemoglobin is converted into a uniform colored end product. The intensity of color, measured at A570 nm, is directly proportional to the hemoglobin concentration in the sample. The optimized formulation substantially reduces interference by substances in the raw samples.
