General description
BTEX are important chemicals, which are commonly used as chemical intermediates and solvents in the production of plastics.{11)
BTEX belongs to the family of organopollutants, which tend to accumulate in groundwater and contaminate the soil and air as well. These compounds are extremely toxic even in small concentrations and have been reported to cause permanent damage to the central nervous system.
Application
BTEX solution has been used as a standard in the determination of BTEX in soil, using gas chromatography (GC) coupled with flame ionization detector.
