GNAI2 (guanine nucleotide binding protein (G protein), α inhibiting activity polypeptide 2) gene encodes an α subunit of guanine nucleotide binding proteins (G proteins). It is a member of the G protein signal transduction family that includes G_iα1 (GNAI1) and G_iα3 (GNAI3). This gene is localized to the short arm of human chromosome 3p21, aberrations in which are associated with several tumors.
