General description

1,2-Dinitroglycerin is a major plasma metabolite of the pharmaceutical vasodilator nitroglycerin. This Certified Spiking Solution® is suitable for use in chromatography or mass spectrometry-based applications in pharmaceutical research or clinical toxicology. Nitroglycerin is used to treat heart conditions such as angina and chronic heart failure.

Application

  • Pharmacokinetics of transdermal nitroglycerin: Research demonstrates the pharmacokinetic profiling of nitroglycerin and its metabolites from a transdermal delivery system, including 1,2-Dinitroglycerin, which contributes to its sustained release and absorption characteristics. This study supports its use in controlled drug delivery applications (Auclair et al., 1998).

  • Nitroglycerin metabolism research: Analytical techniques for studying the metabolism of nitroglycerin, including the role of 1,2-Dinitroglycerin, were detailed, highlighting methods for examining nitrite and glutathione interactions. This research aids in understanding the metabolic pathways and implications of nitroglycerin derivatives in pharmacology (Curry et al., 1987).
