General description

Calnexin is a Ca++ binding protein found in ER transmembranes that binds to specific n-linked oligosaccharides found on newly synthesized proteins. Calnexin associates with the ER membrane phosphoglycoprotein, signal sequence receptor SSRμ, and has been identified as the ER protein associated with major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I heavy chain and with the T-cell receptor and membrane immunoglobulin before assembly of these multimeric complexes. Hence, calnexin may represent a molecular chaperone in the ER membrane that is selective for incompletely folded oligomeric membrane proteins newly translocated to the ER.

Specificity

This antibody recognizes Calnexin at the C-terminus.

Immunogen

Epitope: C-terminus
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the C-terminus of human Calnexin.

Application

Anti-Calnexin Antibody is an antibody against Calnexin for use in WB, IC, IH(P).
Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:500 dilution from a representative lot detected Calnexin in NIH/3T3 cells.

Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:1,000-2,000 dilution from a representative lot detected Calnexin in human brain and human prostate tissues.

Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1), an autosomal dominant disorder caused by MEN1 germline mutations, is characterised by parathyroid, pancreatic and pituitary tumours.
