General description

A certified analytical reference solution and internal standard applicable for use in butalbital testing methods by GC/MS or LC/MS for applications in clinical toxicology, urine drug testing or forensic analysis. Butalbital is a barbiturate often combined with other medications such as acetaminophen or aspirin for the treatment of pain or codeine for headaches. Trade names of several butalbital combinations include Axocet®, Bucet, and Bupap® with acetaminophen and Axotal with aspirin.

Application

  • Butalbital-D5 in analytical research:Utilizing stable isotope-labeled compounds like Butalbital-D5 enhances the precision of mass spectrometry analyses for monitoring drug metabolism and identifying potential drug interactions, providing reliable data critical for patient safety and effective treatment protocols. (Guo et al., 2024).

  • Detection in complex matrices:The butalbital-D5 is used to improve the detection of trace compounds in complex biological matrices in clinical toxicology studies, helping to accurately assess drug therapeutic levels and potential toxicities. (Yi et al., 2024).
