General description

Chloroform, a halogenated hydrocarbon, is widely employed as a solvent. Its photochemical degradation has been investigated in the presence of TiO2 aqueous suspensions (wavelength range of 310-380nm).

Application

Chloroform has been employed for the ion exchange isolation of sulfatides from the urinary samples by using DEAE-cellulose membranes before the tandem mass spectrometric analysis. It has been used as a solvent for the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) deposition of lipid bilayers over mica sheets (silver coated back).†
