General description

mEHEC® Broth is a dehydrated granular culture medium used for selective enrichment of E. coli O157:H7, E. coli non-O157:H7 STEC, and Salmonella spp. in select food samples. The media contains tryptone that provides nitrogenous and carbonaceous compounds, long chain amino acids and other essential growth nutrients. Lactose is a fermentable sugar. Bile salts mixture inhibits gram-positive bacteria, especially bacilli and fecal Streptococci. Phosphates control the pH during the fermentation of lactose. Gas production in a fermentation tube within 24 hours or less is presumptive evidence of the presence of coliform bacteria.

Application

Dehydrated culture medium for selective enrichment of pathogenic bacteria in selected food and is intended for use with Assurance® GDS, TRANSIA® Plate, TRANSIA® AG, and VIP Gold.
