General description

A Certified Solution Standard for the primary active metabolite of quetiapine, marketed as the atypical antipsychotic Seroquel® for the treatment of depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. This new reference standard is suitable for a variety of GCMS and LCMS applications from forensic and forensic toxicology analyisis to urine drug testing. We also offer certified Snap-N-Shoot® solutions of the parent drug Quetiapine fumarate (Q-001) and the internal standard Quetiapine-D8 hemifumarate (Q-002) as well as a wide selection of other atypical antipsychotics and their metabolites and internal standards, such as aripiprazole, clozapine, risperidone, olanzapine, and ziprasidone.

Application

  • Metabolic Analysis of Quetiapine and 7-Hydroxyquetiapine: Research outlined a liquid chromatographic-mass spectrometric procedure specifically developed for analyzing 7-Hydroxyquetiapine alongside quetiapine, validating the method through its application in rat brain and blood samples. This study emphasizes the value of 7-Hydroxyquetiapine in understanding the pharmacokinetics of antipsychotic treatments, crucial for drug metabolism research and therapeutic monitoring (Heisel et al., 2024).

  • Drug Entry and Retention in Hair: An investigative study focused on the distribution of Quetiapine and 7-Hydroxyquetiapine in guinea pig hair roots and shafts post-repeated administration. This work contributes to forensic toxicology by exploring how antipsychotic drugs and their metabolites interact with and are retained in hair, providing insights that support legal and medical inquiries into drug use history (Ji et al., 2021).

  • Single Dose Metabolite Tracking: Research examined the characteristics of quetiapine and 7-Hydroxyquetiapine in hair roots and blood after a single dose, offering a detailed look at the acute phase of metabolite processing in the body. This study aids in forensic analysis and may contribute to better understanding the immediate metabolic responses to quetiapine in clinical scenarios (Yan et al., 2020).
