Rapid Fontana-Masson Staining

What Does it Cover?

In the continued effort to save you time and simplify your workflow, we’ve developed a Fontana-Masson Staining Kit with a protocol that is 30x faster than the standard protocol. In this webinar, the researcher who developed the kit explains how easy it is to use this new rapid microwave technique. If you need to stain melanin and argentaffin cells in tissue sections, take a few minutes to watch this webinar - and save yourself many more minutes in the future by using this kit.

What Will You Learn?

  • Learn how to save time when staining for melanin and argentaffin cells in tissue sections.
  • Better understand the use of the microwave for accelerating staining protocols.
  • See firsthand how microwave protocols can save time while yielding comparable or better staining results versus standard protocols.

Who Should Attend?

  • Histotechnologists
  • Medical Technicians
  • Students
  • Histologists
  • Researchers in Microscopy

Vikas Palhan, Ph.D.

Senior R&D Scientist, Emerging Biology - Genomics

Dr. Vikas Palhan is a senior scientist in the Emerging Biology Genomics group in St. Louis, MO, USA. He joined us in 2007 and over the last 10 years has developed several kits for Epigenetics research such as ChIP, RIP and ChIRP. He is currently developing epigenetic applications of the Duolink assay in individual cells. Vikas did his postdoc at the Rockefeller University, New York in Bob Roeder’s lab working on transcription regulation at the chromatin level in human cell-free systems. Being a biochemist by training he purified and characterized the human STAGA coactivator complex and discovered its role in the neurodegenerative disease Spinocerebellar ataxia 7 (SCA7); for which he was awarded the Hereditary Disease Foundation fellowship. Vikas did his doctoral studies at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India working on the biotechnological applications of the silkworm baculovirus. He has filed 4 patents and several publications to his name. Today he will tell us about the rapid protocol for Fontana Masson staining that was presented at the NSH 2017 conference.
