General description

ROCK1 (Rho-kinase) is a serine/threonine kinase, that is located on human chromosome 18q11. It is upregulated in osteosarcoma.

Application

Biochem/physiol Actions

ROCK1 (Rho-kinase) participates in several fundamental cellular functions, like proliferation, differentiation, adhesion, contraction, metabolism and apoptosis. It controls the phosphorylation of myosin light chain and acto-myosin contractility. It serves as a key effector kinase of Rho GTPases, and plays major roles in the modulation of cancer invasion and metastasis.
