Application

The extractor for ethidium bromide decontamination is a self-contained activated carbon extraction device for removing mutagenic ethidium bromide (EtBr) from electrophoresis buffers. Each unit processes a liter of buffer in less than a minute, removing >99% of EtBr and maintains this efficiency for up to 10 liters [initial (EtBr) approx. 0.5 mg/liter]. Assuming no other environmentally hazardous components, processed buffer can be discarded down the laboratory drain.
Fits most standard laboratory flasks. Includes a cap for storage between uses and an adhesive label to log usage 0.5 liter at a time.
