General description

This certified reference material (CRM) is produced and certified in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034. This CRM is traceable to primary material from an NMI, e.g. NIST or NMIJ. Certified content by quantitative NMR incl. uncertainty and expiry date are given on the certificate. Download your certificate at: http://www.sigma-aldrich.com

Diniconazole is a systemic and broad-spectrum triazole fungicide, that has been used widely in cereals, fruit trees, vegetables, and economically important crops to control a wide variety of diseases like scab, septoria, brown rust, powdery mildew, and Rhynchosporium. It controls basidiomycetes and ascomycetes by suppressing 14α-demethylation, which plays an important role in ergosterol biosynthesis.

Diniconazole has to be monitored in the Multiannual Control Programme for Pesticides Residues (MACP), run within the EU and EFTA in/on products of plant origin.

As per Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 diniconazole is not approved in European Union. The maximum residue limit (MRL) for diniconazole as a sum of isomers has been set from 0.01 to 0.05 mg/kg for various products of plant and animal origin following Regulation (EU) No 1317/2013.

Application

It is intended to be used as a certified reference material (CRM) for calibration in chromatography and other analytical techniques. Diniconazole CRM may also find its use as described below:
  • 1H NMR-based metabolomics and histopathological examination to evaluate the toxicological effects of diniconazole in zebrafish
  • Ultrasensitive determination of diniconazole in environmental water samples using copper indium sulfide quantum dots (CuInS2 QDs) as a chemiluminescence probe
  • Enantioselective determination of diniconazole enantiomers residues in apple, grape, and tea samples using supercritical fluid chromatography coupled with quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry (SFC-Q-TOF/MS)
  • Investigation of diniconzole and triadimefon as chemical corrosion inhibitors for freshly polished copper in synthetic seawater
  • Ratiometric fluorescence detection of diniconazole using a molecularly imprinted mesoporous structured probe

As a systemic triazole fungicide, limited information is known about diniconazole. In this study, toxicological effects and bioaccumulation behavior of diniconazole in zebrafish were both evaluated to perform an overall assessment of its environmental risk towards aquatic organisms. The 1H
