Which Avanti® products will become available online?
Through an exclusive global distribution agreement, Avanti® Polar Lipids research products will soon be available to Merck customers outside of the United States. These products complement the broad life science offering on our website and allow customers to take advantage of our strong e-commerce and logistics capabilities.
Products covered by the agreement include the research lipids, adjuvants, lipidomics, and equipment portfolios.
How will this benefit customers?
The powerful combination of Avanti® Polar Lipids high-quality products and the excellence of our service creates a strong value proposition for these products in the life science research community. Under the agreement, we will employ our sales, marketing, and e-commerce expertise as well as leverage the strength of our relationships with the scientific community to present and distribute this lipids research portfolio.
Which products are not included?
Avanti® Polar Lipids will continue to provide products and services related to its current good manufacturing process (cGMP) manufacturing, analytical services, formulations, and custom services. Avanti® remains committed to supporting these products and continuing to provide innovative new solutions in these areas.
Will production, manufacturing, or quality control change?
No. Avanti® Polar Lipids remains the legal manufacturer. The products will still have Avanti® Polar Lipids branding and packaging and maintain existing Avanti® quality control processes.
What will the implementation plan and transition look like? What are the timelines?
The Avanti® Polar Lipids products noted above will be marketed, distributed, and sold solely through the life science business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, which operates as MilliporeSigma in the U.S. and Canada. Our extensive global (excluding the U.S.) channels include this website, an extensive sales force, and a global network. After a transition period, we will become the primary contact for customer and technical support. The products will continue to be produced by the Avanti® Polar Lipids company.
Merck and the Avanti® Polar Lipids team are currently working to ensure processes are put in place to ensure a seamless transition, with no disruption in ordering, service, or delivery throughout the transition period. Further details will be communicated as they are available.
What will happen to the e-commerce platforms?
Products will remain available through existing Avanti® channels during the transition period. After this transition period, products will be made available through this website. Customers within the United States will continue to order via AvantiLipids.com. Further details will be communicated as they are available.
Will Avanti® product numbers change in your ordering system?
The Avanti® product numbers will not change in the system unless there is a direct conflict with an existing product. Direct product number conflicts are expected to be minimal and will be communicated if they arise.
What if I don’t have an account on the website?
You can easily open an account by calling our customer service or visiting using the log-in page.
Can customers still order products through the Avanti® website? When will the products be available on this website?
Products will remain available through AvantiLipids.com for the transition period. After this transition period, products will be made available here (excluding the U.S.). Further details will be communicated as they are available.
How can I determine whether a specific product number is included in the agreement?

Once the transition period is complete, there will be a comprehensive list of Avanti® Polar Lipids products.
What if I have an existing contract or tender?
During the implementation of this agreement, both the Avanti® Polar Lipids team and Merck are committed to customer care as a first priority. As tenders and contracts are being reviewed, we will evaluate the best option for our customers and communicate to you accordingly.
What will happen to customer support?
Both companies are working to ensure customers experience a seamless transition with no disruption in ordering, service, or delivery throughout the transition period. Further details will be communicated as they become available.
