Application

Dichlorodimethylsilane (DDMS) can be used as a silylating agent for the silylation of Pd/SiO2 catalysts to enhance the catalytic activity for the selective hydrogenation of aromatic ketones.
It is also employed as a reagent in the synthesis of hydrophilic and hydrophobic silica nanoparticles and amides from unprotected amino acids.

Other Notes

Silylating agent for diols, diamines, etc.; the protection is very sensitive to hydrolysis
