Analysis Note
Samples of farm-raised Atlantic salmon were prepared and analyzed for fatty acids. The salmon was extracted using an acid digestion /alkali hydrolysis followed by methylation as described in AOCS Official Method Ce 1k-09 (2). The resulting extracts were then analyzed by GC/FID on an Omegawax 250 capillary column as described in AOCS Official Method Ce 1i-07.
