Bupropion is an antidepressant and smoking cessation drug sold under the trade names Wellbutrin® and Zyban®.

  • Investigation of neurotoxic effects: Research on propofol′s potential neurotoxic impact on the hippocampus has deepened understanding of its effects on mitochondrial function. (Ebrahimi et al., 2024).

  • Enhancement of cardiopulmonary bypass outcomes: Propofol is used in clinical trials to explore its efficacy in reducing biomarkers of organ injury during cardiac surgery. (Smartt et al., 2024).

  • Development of nanoencapsulation techniques: Propofol is being researched for its encapsulation in nanocarriers to improve its delivery efficiency and reduce side effects. Such innovations in drug delivery are aimed at enhancing the pharmacological profile of anesthetics, making them safer and more effective (Abdoullateef et al., 2024).
