Ultrasensitive SMC® Neurology Immunoassays
High Sensitivity Immunoassays to Detect Neurology Biomarkers
Protein biomarkers have become a popular focus in recent decades for neurology research, particularly as targets for potential therapies for conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and traumatic brain injury. Recent efforts in this field have begun incorporating the study of circulating samples for key biomarkers. This is because serum and plasma samples are much more easily accessible and versatile compared to cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which is difficult to isolate from patients and typically available only in limited amounts. This shift in focus has required the development of assays with greater sensitivity than can be achieved from traditional immunoassay methods due to the lower expression of many key markers.
Harness the power of Single Molecule Counting (SMC®) high sensitivity immunoassay kits for accurate and reliable measurement of key neurology protein analytes from health through disease, using the powerful and intuitive SMCxPRO® immunoassay system.
Our growing menu of ultrasensitive assays for key neuro biomarkers includes:
- Neurofilament Light Chain (NF-L)
- Total Tau
- Phospho-Tau (T181)
- Amyloid Beta
- Total Alpha Synuclein
- Phospho-Alpha Synuclein (S129)
- Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF)
- Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP)
NEW: SMC® Neurofilament Light Chain (NF-L) High Sensitivity Immunoassay Kit
Few analytes symbolize the utility of ultrasensitive immunoassays in blood-based biomarker research better than Neurofilament Light Chain (NF-L), a product of axonal damage and a broadly applicable marker in brain biology. Ultrasensitive SMC® immunoassay technology on the SMCxPRO® platform enables researchers to study low-abundant blood-based neurodegenerative biomarkers like NF-L and profile subtle changes in expression.

Representative Kit Data: Standard Curve Range and Serum NF-L Measurements
A. Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and (normal/non-AD) human samples were commercially sourced and run in the SMC® NF-L assay according to protocol. Serum (n=10, red), K2 EDTA plasma (n=10, green), and CSF (n=5, yellow) samples accurately fall within the standard curve range (blue).
B. NF-L serum concentrations of AD (n=10) show nearly double that of normal (n=6) samples.
