Handling Instructions for Nylon Membranes, Positively Charged

Protocols are found in the corresponding package inserts.

  • Storage prior to use : As depicted in the package insert, at room temperature (+15 to +25 °C).
  • Storage prior to hybridization: Store your membrane dry (after blotting, prior to usage) for unlimited time, e.g., in between two sheets of Whatman 3MM paper in a sealed bag at +2 to +8 °C.Important general information: When the membrane dries at any stage of the prehybridization, hybridization or detection procedures, it may no longer be possible to strip and reprobe that membrane.
  • Protocol for "Storage of membrane before hybridization": After membrane blotting and fixation, rinse the membrane briefly in water; allow excess liquid to drip, but do not allow the membrane to dry; seal the semi-dry membrane in a plastic bag; store at +2 to +8 °C ( it is not necessary to store the membrane in the dark).

Autoclaving Nylon Membranes

Roche nylon membranes can be sterilized without any problem by autoclaving at +135 °C.
