General description

1,2-distearoyl-d70-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (18:0 PE-d70) is a deuterated phosphoethanolamine (PE) in which 70 protons of distearoyl are replaced.
Deuterated fatty acids experience exchange of the deuteriums on the alpha carbon to the carbonyl, i.e., C2 position, and will therefore be a mixture of compounds that are fully deuterated and partially deuterated at that position.

Application

1,2-distearoyl-d70-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (18:0 PE-d70) has been used in the preparation of 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DSPE) bilayers to determine the pressure dependence of DSPE flip-flop.
