Best Practices for Collecting Air Samples using Thermal Desorption Tubes

WEBINAR

Thermal Desorption coupled with Gas Chromatography is a reliable analytical technique for measuring the concentration of Volatile Organic Compounds from air. Both Passive and Active Air Samples can be taken using thermal desorption tubes. In fact, a specific type of TD tubes can be used for both types of sampling. In this webinar, we’ll walk you through the steps on how to properly capture air samples using thermal desorption tubes.

We’ll start with the basics on connecting the TD tubes to an air sampling pump and how to calibrate the flow rate going through the tubes, and finish with the best way to store and ship your tubes for analysis. Today most tubes incorporate a unique barcode on the tubes, and we’ll discuss how these can improve the workflow during sampling and in the laboratory when setting up the analytical sequence.

In this webinar, you will learn:

  • How Thermal Desorption works
  • When to use passive vs active sampling
  • When to use single vs multi bed adsorbent tubes
  • Best practices for calibration, sampling, and shipping
