Descrizione generale

p38γ, commonly known as MAPK12 (mitogen-activated protein kinase 12), is one of the four isoforms of the p38 MAPK family.[1] This isoform shows predominant expression in skeletal muscle and is controlled by exercise.[2]

Azioni biochim/fisiol

p38γ is a key protein of the MAPK (mitogen-activated protein kinase) pathway and is involved in cell differentiation, growth, cycle and apoptosis and inflammation. It is essential for normal localization of polo-like kinase 1 (Plk1) at the kinetochore. This protein facilitates mitotic cell viability and suppresses chromosomal instability.[1] Studies suggest that this protein negatively controls the expression of GLUT4 (glucose transporter) and the uptake of glucose mediated by contraction in adult skeletal muscles.[2]

Supplied in 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, with 150 mM NaCl, 0.2 5mM DTT, 0.1 mM EGTA, 0.1 mM EDTA, 0.1 mM PMSF, and 25% glycerol.
