Description générale

Synapsins are a family of neuron-specific phosphoproteins that are localized on the cytoplasmic surface of small synaptic vesicles. Synapsins are ubiquitously expressed in neurons. The synapsin 2 (Syn2) gene is located on human chromosome 3p25. It belongs to the neuronal phosphoprotein family.

Spécificité

Anti-Synapsin II(C-terminal) specifically recognizes human, rat and mousesynapsin II.

Immunogène

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 569-586 of rat synapsin IIa isoform, conjugated to KLH. This sequence is identical in rat synapsin IIa, human synapsin IIa, and mouse synapsin II, and is not found in rat and human synapsin IIb.

Application

Anti-Synapsin II (C-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit may be used in immunoblotting.

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

Synapsins regulate synaptic vesicle clustering and the formation of synaptic terminals. Synapsin II (Syn2) is involved in the formation of synaptic terminals during neuronal development. It can link synaptic vesicles to the actin cytoskeleton, thus regulating the availability of synaptic vesicles for exocytosis. Synapsin II association with synaptic vesicles is controlled by phosphorylation. It is proposed as a candidate associated with increased vulnerability to schizophrenia. It plays an important role in synaptogenesis and neurotransmitter release. Syn2 also helps to locate nitric oxide synthase to the vicinity of its targets.

Forme physique

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Stockage et stabilité

For continuous use, store at 2-8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers, is not recommended. If slightturbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilutions should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
