Application

Polyglycine has been used as an external intensity standard for measuring cross polarization (CP) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrum measurements and ion mobility mass spectrometry. It is suitable for use as a model for UV resonance Raman spectroscopy studies.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Polyglycine exists in two forms, namely the polyglycine I (PGI) with anti-parallel β-sheet structure and polyglycine II (PGII) with extended 31-helix. It is a most flexible polypeptide with minimal steric hindrance and its solubility increases in the presence of lithium ions. It is present in mammals and plants. Polyglycine stretch associated with the chloroplast membrane protein, Toc5 is essential for envelop sorting.

Preparation Note

Prepared by phosphorylation.

The sequence and conformational effects on the gas-phase acidities of peptides have been studied by using two pairs of isomeric cysteine-polyglycine peptides, CysGly(3,4)NH(2) and Gly(3,4)CysNH(2). The extended Cooks kinetic method was employed to determine the gas-phase acidities using a triple

Polyglycine (polygly) is an important model system for understanding the structural preferences of unfolded polypeptides in solution. We utilized UV resonance and visible Raman spectroscopy to investigate the conformational preferences of polygly peptides of different lengths in water containing LiCl

Molecules that resemble a semiconductor diode depletion zone are those with an intrinsic electric dipole, which were suggested as potential electronic devices. However, so far, no single molecule has met such a goal because any electron donor-acceptor linker strongly diminishes
