Used as an inhibitor of O-linked glycosylation in a variety of cell lines. Also inhibits 2,3(O)-sialyltransferase and disrupts glycoprotein targeting in HT-29 cells. Substrate for N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminyltransferase.
