Description

General description

Dimethyloctadecy[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ammonium chloride solution (DTSACl) is a silane coupling reagent.

Dimethyloctadecyl[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ammonium chloride (DTSACl) is an organosilane which can be used as a silica precursor. It forms an oil soluble solution that can act as an emulsion stabilizer.[1][2]

Application

DTSACl functionalized silica nanoparticles incorporated in thermochromic dyes can be used in textile industries.[3] They are also used as quaternary ammonium groups for the modification of nanocelluose/graphene oxide based membranes to be used as stable solid state electrolytes for zinc air batteries.[4]

DTSACl may be used for modification of silica.{61} It was used to functionalize Fe3O4/silica core-shell nanoparticles. {62} DTSACl may be used as a precursor to form silica, 3 and MeMFI zeolite.{63} It acts as a mesopore-generating agent. {64}
