Effect of surface treatments on the bond strength of etched-metal resin-bonded retainers.

The effects of surface treatments on the shear bond strength of etched metal to bovine enamel were evaluated. Abraded etched metal without contamination had the highest shear bond, while debonding occurred within the resin interface rather than in the resin to etched metal or resin to enamel.
