Ações bioquímicas/fisiológicas

A cefotaxima inibe a síntese da parede celular bacteriana ligando-se às proteínas de ligação à penicilina (PBP), o que inibe a etapa final de transpeptidação da síntese de peptidoglicano nas paredes celulares bacterianas. Como resultado, a bactéria sofre lise devido às enzimas autolíticas da parede celular.
