General description

Microcystin-LY is generally produced by cyanobacteria in freshwater systems and is found as a toxic analog of microcystin.

Application

Microcystin-LY may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in raw and treated waters using high-performance liquid chromatography with photo-diode array detection (HPLC-PDA).

Microcystins (MC) are a group of over 60 cyclic heptapeptide hepatotoxins produced by cyanobacteria. The 1-octanol/water partition coefficients (log P) of MC-LR, -LY, -LW and -LF have been estimated by HPLC to be 2.16, 2.92, 3.46 and 3.56, respectively. Their
